Do you finish everything or hire subcontractors?
We will be taking care of the entire project for you. Depending on the project, most of the work will be completed by our employees and then specialty work we subcontract out.
Do you allow clients to perform some of the work?
Majority of the time, no. If a client would like to complete some of the work or hire a friend, they MUST perform the task as a licensed/ insured contractor when required. The work needs to be completed in our scheduled timeline.
Are you licensed and insured?
Illinois doesn’t require a general contractors license at the state level, but is typically regulated at the city or county level. However, Illinois DOES require roofing contractors to be state licensed. Key Builders has an unlimited license for residential, commercial, and industrial.
Can I make changes after we’ve started?
The short answer is yes. The long answer is that there may be additional fees/ labor costs depending on how the change request affects the project.
Will the job site be messy?
Unfortunately, we cannot avoid the fact that construction projects create a certain level of inconvenience, noise, and mess. However, we will do everything we can to reduce the problem with daily site cleanup.
How long have you been in business?
We have been in business for over 30 years.
Who will be the contact person during construction?
You will be assigned a project manager that will be there to help you from start to finish for the duration of your project. Feel free to take up all questions and concerns with them.
Are you priced comparable to other companies?
We are very thorough with our proposals. We want to account for all your wants and needs. With that being said, quality costs, but it does pay off. We may not always come in at the lowest price, but we will deliver a product of the highest standards at a fair price.
