Morrison Main Street Building Restoration

Key Builders was called into action when the walls collapsed on this turn-of-the-century commercial building in downtown Morrison, Illinois.

Determined to save this historic structure, the City of Morrison contracted with Key Builders to begin a process of salvage and restoration. Key Builders worked with the city to stage the project to accomodate the city’s budgetary constraints.

Key Builders is working with Mitchell Associates Architects to re-create a historically accurate rendering of the exterior of the building. When completed, the building will include a retail space on the first floor and apartments on the second floor.

As of early 2010, the walls and window areas have been reconstructed with concrete block to support the building. Future stages include historic restoration work to rebuild the brick veneer facade and to re-create all decorative elements.
