Woodlawn Arts Academy
In another project of rebirth and transformation, Key Builders design-build construction services renovated an old elementary school to create a welcoming, well-thought-out fine arts center with dance and music studios, classrooms for art instruction, and a gymnasium that was converted into a theater space.
Key renovated the classrooms and administration area, put in new aluminum windows and repointed some of the masonry. Designers accentuated spaces with prairie or mission style lamps and tiling. The interiors included new frames and new solid core oak doors. Dance studios used floating wood floors and music studios incorporated soundproof walls. Magnetic paint was used on classroom walls so children could place artwork directly on the walls with magnets.
Key Builders took steps to make the two-story building handicapped accessible and used green technologies such as indirect lighting and a high-end geothermal heating and cooling system throughout the building.
I recommend Key Builders. They were responsive and brought in the resources we needed to get the job done.Mary Ellen Wilkinson, Woodlawn Arts Academy
